I’ve decided to redo this page.
How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing since I was eleven. I fell in love with writing right away. I published my first book in 2012.
What are your hobbies besides writing?
I love reading, watching TV, and playing video games. I used to hang out with my friends every so often and played D&D. I also love talking on the phone with writing friends. I also love scrolling through social media to post things from my characters’ points of view.
What do you like to read?
I mostly read whatever catches my eye. Thanks to a friend and GoodReads I’ve challenged myself to read ten books by the end of the year. After reaching surpassing my goal of reading ten books a year I pushed it to fifteen books a year.
What are your favorite shows on TV?
I watch anything that can keep my attention. I watch somethings that insight nostalgia like Rugrats, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Rocket Power, and Teen Titans. Some of my favorite dramas are Bold Type, Take Two, and Reverie. My favorite comedies are Comedy Knockout, Home Improvement, and 3rd Rock from the Sun. Some of the best documentaries I watch on the Travel Channel like Mysteries at the Museum and Legendary Locations.
During this past October I found a lot of new and old favorites like Mysteries at the Hotel, Haunted Things, and A Haunting.
What do you like to post from your characters’ points of view?
Different things for different characters. I only post from people from the Head Hunters’ universe currently. Daniya, from Head Hunters, is one of the most vocal characters from the book. Daniya posts about all things fashion and some Disney posts as well. I have characters from three short stories (those are no longer short stories) in the universe who also post pretty often. There’s a librarian whose always posting helpful articles for all walks of life. There’s a doctor who posts health advice, and things that remind her of the family she lives with. A horror author posts things about her writing inspiration and things that remind her of the grandparents she grew up with.
What do you and your writer friends talk about?
We mostly talk about anything and everything. We talk about our WIP (works in progress), deadlines, and what inspires us; like books, TV shows, and more. We challenge each other to break out of our comfort zones as well.
What types of writing do you like doing?
I love writing fantasy stories and books. I also write reflective pieces, personal essays, blog entries.
I now have a new website for my reflective pieces available upon request.
What writing advice do you have for others?
If you write for yourself, you’ll have more success than writing for a possible fan base. It shows when
you’re uncomfortable with what you’re writing. In that same vein, it helps if you want to publish your work for other than a paycheck up front. It is hard to start off getting well-paid as an author. My other advice is that there is not only one way to write, and if possible, bring a notebook or notepad app to take notes for possible inspiration on the go.
Who supported you most with your writing?
All of my parents supported me in different ways, but one thing they all had in common was they bought me several notebooks every year. Dad, my stepmom, and my younger brother’s dad read some of my pieces and gave me constructive criticism. Dad also introduced me to and author and helped me interview him when I froze. To be honest, I don’t remember how it started, but a lot of my friends started reading my work and encouraging me. I had a few Language Arts teachers in high school who helped me better my writing.
The people who support me the most right now are my husband, Richard, my best friend, Christina, and my mother-in-law, Evette.
I have a support system of Accountabilibuddiers, the writing friends. Some of the most supportive one are Adrienne, JJ, Ash, Tiffany, Jordan, Tiara, and Glen.
What series inspired you to write the most?
I’m most inspired by the action series Maximum Ride, Dark Angel, and Dollhouse. Ghost Whisperer, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and Tru Calling are some of my other favorites. Some of my favorite cartoons that inspired me were Teen Titans, Static Shock, Xiaolin Showdown, and Rocket Power.
